My name is Christy Schulte. I was born on October sixth, 1975 in Tulsa Oklahoma, where I lived for nineteen years. though I became completely blind at the age of eighteen months, my parents opted to send me to public school, for which I am very thankful.
After graduating high school and training with my first guide dog, Jodie, I moved in to my own apartment and began school at a local community college. I had hoped to complete a two year degree in a computer related field, but due to several different circumstances this never came to be. So in January of 1997, I moved from Tulsa to attend a nine month computer programming course in Little Rock, Arkansas.
This move was the first in a series of many moves and jobs over the past ten and a half years. I have lived and worked in Michigan, Nebraska, Florida, and now Missouri. I've worked as a telephone sales and customer service agent, technical support representative, massage therapist, and I've even done some manual labor of sorts. Currently I am on disability and attending Kaplan University online in order to finish what I started so long ago.
In addition to working with computers, I also enjoy playing online computer games called MUDs. Other hobbies of mine include ham radio, music and singing especially contemporary Christian, animals, and certain types of reading.
